III. Project Overview

Enhancing the in-service performance and quality of drill pipes is of paramount strategic importance for intensifying exploration and development efforts, ensuring increased oil and gas production, and safeguarding national energy security. This project has led to the invention of a series of ultra-high-strength and tough drill pipes, high-grade corrosion-resistant drill pipes, and ultra-high-strength aluminum/titanium-alloy lightweight drill pipes, as well as a comprehensive suite of high-performance drill-pipe joint technologies. Specifically, it has developed multiple specialized thread configurations for steel, aluminum, and titanium drill pipes, introduced novel methods for inspecting drill-pipe joint threads, and created various measurement devices; thereby establishing key technologies for the full-chain engineering application of drill pipes.

1. Participated in the project organization and research of individual technologies, including high-toughness drill pipe technology, sulfur-resistant drill pipe technology, lightweight drill pipe technology, and special threaded joint technology for drill pipes; coordinated with other organizations to review and approve the project’s technical roadmap and on-site test plans; and jointly summarized and distilled the project’s achievements with other participating entities. 2. Responsible for the promotion and application of high-efficiency testing and evaluation technology for drill pipe joints at Shandong Weima Equipment Technology Co., Ltd., resulting in a more than 50% increase in drilling joint measurement efficiency and raising the product pass rate to over 99%. 3. Responsible for the promotion and application of individual technologies such as high-toughness drill pipe technology and sulfur-resistant drill pipe technology at Shandong Weima Equipment Technology Co., Ltd. The high-performance drill pipes produced have been widely used in the Tarim Oilfield, the Sichuan–Chongqing oil and gas fields, the Changqing Oilfield, and the natural gas hydrate pilot production project, and have also been exported to overseas oil and gas fields such as Tyumen in Russia. These products demonstrate excellent service safety, have received positive market feedback, and have earned high praise and recognition from customers. Since 2011, the cumulative production and sales value of high-performance drill pipes—including SS105 and SS110 sulfur-resistant drill pipes, G105, S135, and high-toughness V150—has reached approximately RMB 2.327 billion, delivering significant economic and social benefits.
